Exhibition of the Week: Golden Rooster Heralds the Morning

The year of 2017 in the Chinese calendar is the year of the rooster and to celebrate this year and in order to popularize the culture of the rooster there will be, until March 30, an exhibition in Zhejiang Museum of Natural History.

The exhibition displays 38 specimens of birds belonging to the Galliformes, five paintings about birds and 36 rooster-related historic relics, such as ceramics, jade ware, bronze ware, fan pages and painting scrolls. Furthermore, the exhibition also displays 31 exhibits collected from the society and 30 paintings created by the public.

The exhibition consists of three parts and the third part, culture of the rooster, is the most interesting part as it showcases the role of the rooster in Chinese poems, paintings and folk activities.

In the meantime, the Zhejiang Museum of Natural History presents its visitors with a Treasures Exhibition which exhibits 30 new animal specimens that include ancient rare species, such as a thigh bone of an atlas dragon from the Jurassic, liger and dyrosaurus?, as well as endangered animals under the key protection of China.

The Treasure Exhibition is available all year round and costs 20 RMB per person.
