China International Qiantang Tide Watching Festival

China International Qiantang Tide Watching Festival first started in 1994, and is held annually in Yanguan Town, Haining, and Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou.

During this remarkable event, not only can tourists appreciate the magnificent Qiantang waves which can be as high as several meters, but they can also participate in a range of activities such as the traditional multi-colored lantern competition. Its opening ceremony usually presents a grand song-and-dance performance entitled “A Sacrificial Song and Dance to the God of Tides”.

Meanwhile, there is a temple fair at God Sea Temple, which adds to the festive occasion.
