Urban and Rural Tourism Boom in Spring Festival

According to data from Hangzhou Tourism Commission, Hangzhou’s urban and rural attractions have received about 9,970,000 visitors from home and abroad during the golden week holiday of 2016 Spring Festival.

During the seven days holiday, Hangzhou got 22% year-on-year growth in the number of domestic and international tourists and 25.6% year-on-year growth in tourism revenue of more than RMB 4.7 billion. West Lake Scenic Area received more than 3 million tourists; Zhijiang National Tourist Resort received more than 280,000 tourists: tourist volumes all reached their peak levels.

In addition to some traditional hot scenic areas like West Lake and Xixi National Wetland Park, many tourists gave their priority to city cultural landscape, folklore and characteristic blocks. This year the first three days of the holiday saw the rapid growth of demands for travel outside of the city. With warm and clear weather, driven by the policy of free charge of expressway during the holiday, rural and family tours got plenty of buzz. Theme park, ancient town, skiing and hot spring became hot travel themes. Self-drive tours were also in peak period.
