The 2nd China-CEEC Expert-level Forum on the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritages

In 2016, the first China-CEEC Expert-level Forum on the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage was held in Poland. It initiated the cultural heritage protection cooperative and communicative mechanism as well as conducted an international research and academic exchange platform among China and central and eastern European countries. This year’s forum aims to promote expert-level international cooperation on intangible cultural heritage protection.

According to “Hangzhou Declaration” and “2018-2019 China-CEEC Cultural Cooperation Plan”, The 2nd China-CEEC Expert-level Forum on the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage will be held in Hangzhou from 17-22 September 2018.

On the theme of “Great Crafts-Hand-made Cultural Memory”, the forum focuses on aspects of sustainable development and the inheritance of traditional crafts, traditional crafts and lifestyle, traditional crafts and cultural identity, traditional crafts along OBOR (One Belt One Road), modern video records and craft cultural preservation, contemporary value of crafts, design philosophy and creative economy and craftsman spirits. The forum is supported by a series of activities as “China-CEEC Craft Works exhibition” and “cultural experience and exchange activities”. The participants of the forum include cultural institution administrators, renowned scholars, representative successors of traditional crafts and artisans from China and 16 central and eastern European countries.

Intangible cultural heritage experts from China and CEEC discuss the issue of sustainable development of intangible cultural heritage to carry forward an intangible cultural heritage protection work of each country thus better inheriting the social culture treasures of mankind.
