Slava’s SNOWSHOW in Hangzhou

The most wonderful show - Slava’s SNOWSHOW - is falling in Hangzhou this coming August and will be the most unforgettable memory this summer. It isn’t just an immersive “Frozen Storm” experience, but also a feast for all five of the senses. This historical show is going to bring you up-to-date excitement, amusement and of course romance.

In 1993, Slava’s SNOWSHOW took the spotlight for the very first time; in the 25 years that followed, the team has travelled more than 30 countries and more than 100 cities worldwide, giving more than 6000 shows to an audience of more than four million people. At least six clowns are needed in each scene, which means a countless number of clowns have taken part since the first show ever started. The clowns in each scene change every show so that there is always something new to the audience. Every actor shows different emotions and behaves differently. The theme is the same, but the shows never overlap which is why Slava’s SNOWSHOW is so successful. To date, the oldest clown who has taken part in the show is over 70 years old while the youngest clown is only five when he joined. How about the audience? The oldest one is 93 years old while the youngest one is five.

To make the shows come alive, 60 million snowflakes are imported from France by air. The process is tough - a 7174-kilometer transportation with 500-kilograms of load which is like transferring a quarter part of a trunk. The big air-blowers used in the show, which can spray snowflakes 25 meters away, make the stage more realistic. The opera hall in Hangzhou Grand Theatre, with a U-shaped interior structure, is 30 meters long and 66 meters wide. Slava’s SNOWSHOW prepares a 180-meter-square “giant spider’s web” which is extendable and can cover the whole room. Six colorful giant balloons which are two meters in diameter are matched up with thousands of small balloons to create a fantasy world of bubbles.

Without any monologue and dialogue, the sound effect is equally important for the success of the show. Music is the icing on the cake; it immerses the audience to the wonderful dream presented by the stage. You will taste the show in the music of “Chariots of Fire”and “The Little Mermaid”by Vangelis, one of the classics in music history “Bolero” by Ravel, “Moirae”by Orff, the king of Samba “ Masquenada” and a guitar concerto “Concierto de Aranjuez, all of these classics will refresh the opera hall with an abundance of laughs and applause from the audience.
