2018-02-11
Hangzhou Changqiao Polar Ocean World, a national AAAA level scenic area, is a polar ocean park where you can see polar bears at close range, have intimate contact with the white whale, experience the thrill and excitement of “Dancing with Whales and Dolphins “, and watch amazing shows by adorable sea lions. Hangzhou Changqiao Polar Ocean Park Phase II is going into full operation on February 9th and let's explore it.

Penguin Island

Penguin island covers an area of 9000 square meters and is more than 10 times the size of its original stadium, providing a larger living space for the family of penguins and a better space for them to rest and play. Here tourists can watch penguins at close range as well as witness the breeding process, and by means of the science zone you can also find out all there is to know about “a baby penguins birth memoir “. Furthermore, every year from September to February lucky tourists will be able to witness the birth of a number of penguins.

Polar Bear Pavilion

In spite its ferocity in the wild, the polar bear is well-behaved when eating. Even though they love to eat watermelons they lose their appetite when it gets too hot so instead, they cool down with an ice block which they play with and eat. Seeing people close-up, the polar bears sometimes stand up and put on shows of “Chinese kung fu “. Every day, the polar bears carry out swimming training in the constant temperature pool.

Capybara Tribe

The capybara, a kind of rodent, resides in an area that is full of Indian charm and one that is based on its natural habitat. Here you can wander on the rock paths and wooden bridges and witness the capybara family at bay, eating plants, standing in the waist-deep water zone, or simply sitting still.

Brown Bear Pavilion

The brand new brown bear pavilion covers an area of 5000 square meters and is restructured to resemble a magical winter forest covered in ice and snow and dotted with blue ice blocks. An Advanced ventilation system, environmental monitoring equipment and a temperature control system are all equipped in the stadium which, together with various specially-made foods, ensure the omnivorous brown bears are well-looked after.

Sea Lion Stage

The sea lion stage covers an area of 2000 square meters, in which there is a vast water area containing 1000 tons of water. High and low rocks are piled up tier upon tier, to mimic the rocky cliff coast in the North Pacific. Here tourists can watch, in detail, the daily life of the North Sea Lions.

Seal Pavilion

The seal pavilion covers an area of 5000 square meters, which is dedicated to the harbor seal family from the North Pacific Ocean. Just like the adjacent brown bears and polar bears, they also own an outdoor courtyard with an outdoor swimming pool.

The new seal pavilion has an advanced room temperature control system, water circulation system and ventilation equipment, all of which provide a close to nature living environment for the harbor seals. Here, tourists can feast their eyes on the harbor seal family whilst they are having a sunbath on the shore, playing happily in the water or enjoying their exclusive meals.

Apart from all the new living environments mentioned above, the newly opened ocean park phase II also has a 3D cinema, White Whale Pavilion, North Pole Village Wolf Valley, Big Bear Valley, ManateeBay, Cute Pet Park, Dreamlike Jellyfish Palace and so on. So, it’s definitely worth a visit!
