Snow Sceneries in Hangzhou, the Southern City

From January 8 when temperatures in Hangzhou drop below zero, people eagerly anticipate the arrival of snow. In Hangzhou, the southern city in China, snow is certainly uncommon but once it arrives, Hangzhou turns into a magical winter wonderland.

West Lake

When temperatures drop below zero, the lake becomes frozen and together with the roads covered by thick snow, the West Lake becomes a dreamlike world and beside the West Lake, Beishan Street, with its rows of bare phoenix trees, comes alive with the influx of people.

Broken Bridge

Noted as one of the "Top Ten Views of West Lake”, Broken Bridge is also famous for its lingering snow. If after a snowfall you wish to view such wonderful and precious scenery, then it is recommended to go early to avoid the large flow of crowds.

Xixi National Wetland Park

It can be said that Xixi National Wetland Park presents its most beautiful charm in autumn when sitting on a sculling boat and appreciating the soft yellow reeds is an enjoyable experience. In fact, after snow which falls onto the wetland’s cottages and bridges, the park becomes a picture postcard with its thick white rooftops, frozen rivers and dry grass curving by the snow.

Hangzhou Botanical Garden
